I hope you all had the most wonderful thanksgiving! We celebrated Thanksgiving on Tuesday with Eric’s family in Elgin, TX and we were actually driving back home on Thanksgiving day. I shared a #ThrowbackThursday pic on my Instagram of my sweet baby boys from last year that had a caption that made me cry while typing it– so that’s how my day went. GOSH I love those babies and I can NOT believe how quickly time is flying by.

ANYWAY. Let’s talk about this stunner of an outfit, shall we?

Some friends of mine recently opened the most adorable boutique in Dallas’ Snider Plaza, called Scout & Molly’s. They seriously have the most adorable things. I went to their grand opening party and basically got myself into huge trouble because pretty much everything I tried on ended up coming home with me! I found an awesome purple dress which made me super happy (everyone who knows me knows that I always snag a great purple item when I find it because it’s so hard to find TCU purple clothing for game day). But my favorite find was definitely the entire outfit pictured above.

When I saw the bell sleeves and the deep red color of this sweater, I immediately had ALL the heart-eyes, and grabbed it to try on. Then after slipping into it, I noticed that it was the softest thing I have ever put on my body… I’m not joking when I say it was so cozy I wanted to sleep in it. And those SLEEVES. I mean really, who isn’t completely in love with bell sleeves? So it had to come home with me. #Obviously.

Next I tried on those adorable jeans. I liked them on the display table, but when I put them on and they hugged me in all the right places, I was basically a goner. #RingEmUp. I love the embroidery details, and I’m continually amazed at how they seem to match 75% of my entire wardrobe. They’re fantastic.

When I came out of the fitting room with the cozy sweater and embellished bottoms, everyone went crazy telling me how I “HAVE to have those.” #WellDuh.

I was shopping with my 2.5 year old son, Champ, who has an obsession with hats (I have no idea where he gets his style ;)) so he picked up a hat on a display table and said “Put on his hat, mommy!” And voilà– that was the icing on the perfect outfit cake. And since then I have worn that hat probably 15 times. Bad hair day? Hat. Don’t have time to do your hair? Hat. Don’t feel like getting ready all the way but want to look like you put effort into your outfit? HAT. It solves all of my daily dilemmas and I love it.

Outfits like this one are my favorite because they are effortless. I don’t even have to think about what I’m putting together, whether or not I will be comfortable, or whether or not it looks good… I already know that I love it and that it’s super comfortable. I can actually chase toddlers around in it and still look like I haven’t given up on myself, which is a real win in my book! But ANY look isn’t complete with just a top, bottoms, and a hat. Accessories and styling really make ALL the difference. I decided to add neutral accessories (as recommended in my Fall 2017 Must-Haves post) to let the focus remain on the sweater and the darling details on my denim. I also added a big statement necklace for a pop of gold and a touch of shiny since this look feels very earthy and cozy to me… y’all know I always have to glam it up a bit ;). Lastly, I threw on all of my go-to bracelets which complete the outfit without looking overdone or matchy-matchy. (Side note: having basic accessory items that you love to wear regularly is important to have in your wardrobe– you can throw them on without thinking and they will help to elevate nearly any look. For me, these basics include my ever-expanding collection of David Yurman, Lagos, and Sydney Evan bracelets, and my classic Michele watch.)

All that said, I highly recommend visiting Scout & Molly’s in Snider Plaza if you live in Dallas, or shopping their site online at

HAPPY SHOPPING… only 31 days until CHRISTMAS!!
