I have a confession…
I am addicted to tweed.
It started when I was in middle school when I really began learning about fashion… I found a book on Coco Chanel. That was really the start of my downward spiral into the depths of my gorgeously textured addiction.
By the time I was 15 years old, I owned somewhere around 8 tweed jackets. I wish I could stay it stopped there, but my need for tweed only grew stronger. Eventually I became unable to walk past a tweed blazer while shopping without stopping to trying it on.
Since those early days of my youth, my addiction has turned into a point of pride; I am no longer embarrassed to say that I own 48 tweed blazers, 18 tweed skirts, 4 pairs of tweed shoes, and 3 pairs of tweed pants. My addiction now occupies the largest percentage of Realestate in my closet and I’m completely OK with that.
I hope you have an appreciation for satire like I do 😉
But in all seriousness, I am completely in love with tweed and I always have been. There’s something so incredibly sophisticated, chic, and timeless about wearing a tweed blazer… and the best part is that tweed will mix with ANYTHING.
Black dress? Throw on a tweed jacket.
Distressed jeans? Throw on a tweed jacket.
White button down top? Throw on a tweed skirt or pants.
Tee-shirt and jeans? Throw on a tweed jacket.
Have matching tweed pieces? Wear them together. Wear them separate. Doesn’t matter because YOU. WILL. LOOK. FABULOUS.
I must have an 80 year old lady who lunches living inside of me because truth be told, if I could wear one thing every day for the rest of my life, it would be a tweed suit. Yes, a matching tweed jacket and skirt… suit. I know, I know. I’m so weird. But you have to admit, there are worse things to wear everyday for the rest of your life. Crocks, for instance.
I can easily explain what I love about wearing tweed, and I’ll bullet it for you so it’s easier on the eyeballs…
- Makes me feel pretty
- Makes me feel important
- Makes me feel sophisticated
- Makes me feel like a BOSS
- Makes me feel in charge (that’s kind of synonymous with boss but comes with a different set of emotions for me… my followers know what I mean)
- Makes me feel like I made an effort today
- Makes me feel polished and put together
- Makes me sit up straight (Why is this? I don’t know. It just does. Magic?)
- Makes me feel like I need a glass of wine at 2pm (this is a pro and a con)
The evidence is clear, people. I’m a better person when I wear tweed. And you will be, too. So, evidently, you need to shop my tweed looks below and stock up. New Years is coming and you’re going to have serious expectations of self-improvement to live up to… and I’m here to help.
