Do you have certain items in your closet that can make any outfit look awesome? This double-breasted, black jacket is one of those items in my own closet.

I love that I can put this jacket on with distressed jeans and a white tee-shirt, or with a flirty skirt, or with a pair of slacks…and any which way I choose to style it, it always looks bad to the bone.

Worth noting: I have a penchant for women’s fashion inspired by menswear. I think there’s something super cool and somewhat sexy about it. And trust me, I don’t really do “sexy”. So if a jacket can feel sexy to me, that’s really sayin’ something!

With this look, I went for a military/ringleader/prep-school vibe (no, that’s not really a thing but somehow it seems appropriate here) and I won’t lie, I felt pretty darn chic wearing it. {Side Note: Isn’t it amazing how clothes can affect how you feel?}Β The pleated, mini swing-skirt is a fun and flirty combination with the structured jacket. The tall boots with the tassel on the side gave it just the right amount of sass without losing any class. And because I love all black errrrryyyyytthhaaannnggg (on any occasion, not just around New Years), I paired everything with a black mesh turtleneck, black handbag, and black Chanel cuff. #givemealltheblack

Now let’s talk about these accessories…honestly, can you EVER go wrong with gold, pearls, and Chanel? The answer is no. Especially when wearing black. I’m not even joking…it’s fool-proof. Put on anything black with a ton of layered Chanel (or Chanel inspired) necklaces and you’re instantly fabulous. Try it. You’ll see.

This look would also be totally appropriate for NYE if you’re doing something semi low-key, but you still want to dress up just a bit.

Now you need to go sort through your own closet and see if you have this staple item! It not, then sort through these amazing pieces below instead! Click on any item to view the item details and where to buy! (Use the arrow on the right to scroll through additional styles.)
