What would spring be without a little fruit and veggie garden?! Our boys LOVED helping us plant this little garden, which will probably die before summertime because we didn’t really do it the right way– we literally just dug holes in the ground and planted things– but we had the BEST time! Our boys loved looking at each plant and talking about what is going to grow on each one (again, assuming it lives long enough to bear fruit or veggies, HA).
Of course, while Eric and I did the hard part (removing all of the grass, rocks, and weeds from the designated garden area), the boys enjoyed some fresh berries…and by fresh, I mean some of them were right off the vine!!! Easton took the strawberry plant and started eating the strawberries before we could even get it in the ground! But don’t worry, I stopped him before he could eat any that were un-ripened. Hilarious though…that kid is a mess. And I love him that way.
Champ and Easton took pride in fetching each tool we needed for our project and took turns digging. They also help us spread the extra dirt into other low spots in our yard! Such great helpers, those two! I can’t wait until they can start mowing the lawn for us, too…and maybe they will even think it’s fun! 😉
Before our project was over, Champ and Easton took full advantage of an opportunity to climb on daddy and demand “horsy rides” around the back yard…to which Eric happily obliged. He’s the world’s greatest dad, and these memories are engrained on my heart forever. Priceless.
Thank you, Jesus, for giving us a small plot of land to grow things…thank you for our sweet children to share this moment with…and thank you for my marriage that blesses me with happiness and joy every single day.
Create your own backyard memories and don’t forget to capture those moments so you can look back on them for years to come! You can even replicate my boys’ outfits using the links below….and remember: REAL BOYS wear PINK (even when digging in the dirt) 😉
